                                        THEATRE DESIGN

As an art form, theatre does not require a purposefully or specially designed building in which to be presented. But when audiences gather regularly to experience a performance, attempts are made to organise the space so that the audience can have a better experience. The simplest ones are where there is a cleared ground and audience can stand or sit to view a performance or play.

Traditonally a movie theatre like stage theatre, consists of a single auditorium with rows of comfortable seats and a area containing a box office for buying tickets. Movie theatres also have a same stage, seats and box office. But additionally it also have a concession area for buying a popcorn, drinks and other snacks. The area is confined within the theatre's lobby. Others features included are film posters, arcade games and washrooms. Stage theatres can be converted to movie theatres by placing a screen in front of the stage and adding a projector. Such conversions may be temporary or permanent. Many of these early theatres contain a balcony, an elevated level across the auditorium above the theatre's rearmost seats. Stadium seating which is popular in modern multiplexes have sharply raked rows of seats extending from in front of the screen back towards the ceiling. It gives audience a clear sight line over the heads of those seated i front of them. Rows of seats are divided by one or more aisles so that there are seldom more than 20 seats in a row. This gives a advantage of easier access to seating, as the space between rows is very narrow. Some theatres usually have booster seats for children and short people for better view.
Some luxury screens are: 1. Multiplexes and megaplexes: It is the one where there are multiple auditoriums and movie screens. It was first started in Canada.
