MY EXPERIENCE WITH HORROR MOVIES

Almost everyone of us would have watched at least one horror movie, liking it or being forced to watch it. The first time I watched a horror movie was without me knowing it was a horror movie. Long back, when I was in my 3rd grade, my uncle took me to a movie with my cousins. He had booked for "Yaavarum Nalam", I thought the title seemed nice, it meant " Everyone is nice ". Little did I know it was a movie that was going to haunt me for the next whole week.
The movie began with all weird things happening in a newly built house, and amusing things like the hero watching his future in a television soap where, whatever that happens in the serial happens in his own life. It was actually way too scary for a seven year old girl. There was this one particular scene in the movie where, the hero's photo gets shaky every time he clicks a picture, I literally did not take pictures of myself for almost a month after that ! The sound effects and darkness in the theater had made the movie more scarier than it would have, had I watched it in the comfort of my house. We came out of the theater after the interval itself as neither me, nor my cousins could watch the movie. All of us had become cold with fear, my brother in particular started to cry !
It always happens to be that more than while watching the movie, the aftermaths are scarier. The feelings of an imaginary ghosts haunting me, fear of going alone in my own house, sitting in the dark were all worse than watching the movie itself. That movie indeed haunted me for many days, until my mom convinced me about the non-existence of ghosts.
What ever be it, even as I do not believe in the existence of a ghost, a horror movie still manages to haunt me, and even if it haunts me, I continue to watch them because it gives a kind of excitement that no other genre of movie provides.
