STAGE PLAYS

Play is a form of literature, consisting of dialogues intended for theoretical performances. There are various genres of plays like comedy, social, satirical and historical. Plays are almost similar to movies, except that they are enacted live before the audience unlike movies where, the scenes are recorded to be watched at a particular time. I believe it is not wrong to say that the movies we watch today originated from stage plays that were very familiar and popular more than five decades back.
Now, let me share my fascinating experience when I first watched a stage play in my life. It was a very boring Sunday during the summer holidays. Movie tickets were not available, and my mother was very much interested to go to a comedy play that was being staged. At the beginning me and my brother were very disappointed on not getting a movie ticket and also reluctant to go to a play. Both of us thought of plays to be something for the old people, and very boring. But we were definitely proved wrong. The play was amazing, and what was more amazing was the capabilities of the actors to remember pages of dialogues and also deliver them with perfection. The story, jokes, actors, dialogues everything were so fascinating and brilliant. The only thing that I thought was how could they remember so many lines and act live without any retakes like in movies and also not get disturbed by the immediate response of the audience. That surely requires days of practice and dedication.
After the invasion of movies, plays and dramas are slowly losing the attention. The theaters that staged so many dramas everyday with full crowd are struggling to fill the auditorium for even one play during the weekends. With the changing trends there are not many stage actors at the present, and the art form is slowly fading to be remembered in the history of theaters.
